THE FORMER CANDLEWOOD SUITES IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO SOLVING AUSTIN'S HOMELESSNESS

We started out as Stop Candlewood, collecting thousands of petition signatures, filing a lawsuit, organizing numerous successful protests, hosting several community forums, meeting with local leaders, appearing on TV, radio, and print news, and researching alternatives to help the unhoused population of Austin -- all on a shoestring budget and with the help of our amazing neighbors and friends. Now as MOVE Candlewood (Making Our Voices Equal In Austin), we're still fully dedicated to stopping the conversion of the Candlewood (10813 Pecan Park Blvd., Austin, Texas) into what is called Permanent Supportive Housing.  Here are 4 quick and easy ways you can  help make 2023 our most successful year yet (most take less than 1 minute to complete):

  1. Lend your name and sign our petition!

  2. Contact the Austin City Council and Elected Officials!

  3. Contribute to our legal fund and help organize!

  4. Help get the word out on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media!

On May 19, 2021, Stop Candlewood met with Mayor Adler and several Council members and were promised answers to our questions and concerns.
